Located in Chesterton, the Green Dragon is a village riverside pub and one of the oldest pubs in Cambridge. In 1630 it was described as an "ancient victualling house". The skeletally exposed beams reveal where some of its interior walls used to be. Despite serial refurbishments, including some modern furniture, it still retains some of its character. A large central inglenook fireplace divides the bar into two distinct areas. There is a lovely beer garden by the river on the opposite side of the road and also a walled rear garden which is non-smoking (there is a well-furnished smoking area in the gazebo attached to the rear of the building). Guest beers are often non Greene King, typically from East Anglian breweries. The kitchen is run by SHAWARMA who offer Lebanese modern street food with traditional flavours. Quiz night each Wednesday.
