Small, old-fashioned, free house tucked away in the village back streets. The main bar is bare-boarded and has white walls adorned with mock timbering, breweriana and horse brasses. The large bar counter is fronted with local yellow bricks. Tellies on two walls can dominate proceedings at quieter times. Up three steps is a side room devoted to pool. Beware the steep steps to the gents. The steps up and down are required as the cellar lies under the pool area to keep it above the water table. There are up to three real ales on, ever-changing though Handcock's HB features often. Sam has been licensee for over 30 years. The pub has not reopened since the first Covid lockdown. It is currently up for sale.
