See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

Friendly and comfortable corner pub on the corner of Colegate and Duke Street, hosting a Sunday night quiz, bar billiards league, and regular live music.

Excellent menu of three or four home-cooked dishes served daily. Pickled onions on the bar, a proper coffee machine, and an eclectic selection of music played at just the right volume (audible but unobtrusive).

Historically one of the few pubs which still served real ale in the late 70's and early 80's, when run by famous landlord Peter Turner.

The larger front bar has plenty of wood an mirrors and natural light, and behind the bar to the left is a smaller mainly seating area, which leads to a small patio at the rear. There are also a few tables in fornt of the pub on the wide pavement.
