See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

A traditional back street drinking pub, first opened in 1857. It was formerly owned by Whitbreads and then became a freehouse in the late 1990s. It is open plan now, a single room including a pool table, darts, dominoes and a large screen TV with BT Sports. It is a much brighter environment after the removal of a large collection of brewery mirrors and beer mugs, but the historical pictures have been kept. It is still a vibrant community pub with occasional themed nights and barbecues on Friday and Saturday evenings in the Spring. Interest in real ale is increasing with occasional beer festivals in the patio garden.
